School Room
One room school houses could be found in every village in Brown County until the early 1930’s and the development of combined school districts. Typical of these early schools were the double and single row desks complete with ink well. The wall charts were used to teach students phonics, cursive writing, arithmetic and variety of other studies.
Other items familiar to these school days were individual practice slates, a teacher's school bell, a water bucket and tin drinking cup, and McGuffey Readers.
